Ella (Nikodym) Odenbach was born April 28, 1915 south of Gregory to Frank and Frances (Teply) Nikodym. She went to country schools east of Gregory for one year and finished the eighth grade southwest of Gregory.
Ella married Art Odenbach on September 17, 1935 and lived northeast of Bonesteel for a year. Then they purchased a farm southwest of Dallas where they spent the rest of their lives. Art and Ella had three children—Naomi was born in 1938, Eugene in 1939, and Diane in 1944.
Art passed away December 28, 1991. After his death Ella moved into an apartment at Senior Village in Gregory and later to Rose Manor in Colome. She then moved to Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory where she passed away on August 9, 2013 at 98 years of age.
She was the last survivor of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Ed and Emil, one sister Libby Ruffing, and great grandson Kirk Kahler.
She is survived by her three children Naomi (Al) Ambach, Pierre, SD, Eugene (Carol) Odenbach, Dallas, SD, and Diane (Ray) Jorgensen, Dallas, SD; eight grand children, many great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Betty Nikodym.
Mom we will all miss you terribly.

Funeral services for Ella Odenbach were held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Gregory, SD with Pastor Royal Archer officiating and Pastor Scott McClellen assisting.
Music was provided by Geoff Smith, soloist, singing "One Day at a Time" and "On the Wings of a Dove" accompanied by Barb Durfee, pianist. Congregational hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord."
Sheila Kahler, Lisa Kahler, and Kim Ambach were in charge of registration.
Becky Odenbach, Mary Odenbach, and Lisa Odenbach were in charge of flowers.
Casket Bearers were the grandchildren Rick Odenbach, Rod Odenbach, Randy Odenbach, Brad Kahler, Blane Kahler, Trish Padden, Mark Ambach, Craig Ambach, and Mike Padden.
Honorary Casket Bearers were the great grandchildren and the great great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Hillview Cemetery, Dallas, SD.
