Wayne Lee Lopour was born June 1, 1943 to Ladus and Anna (Vladyka) Lopour. He grew up on the farm that his grandparents Jan and Anna Lopour bought in 1912.

He attended country school at Jones West Central and went to Gregory High School graduating in 1961. Wayne attended Southern State Teachers College graduating with an Elementary Teaching degree. Wayne received a BA from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. He taught in many schools in central South Dakota. Wayne continued his education and got his Masters at SDSU in Brookings and retired as a guidance counselor. Wayne also took a Electrical maintenance course from Mitchell Tech. Wayne continued to live on the family farm until he moved into the Burke Parkview Manor in 2013. He was a soft-spoken, kind man. He believed in educating the young so they could improve their lives.
