Virginia "Ginny" Verle (Vielmette) Leibel was born on April 14, 1924 on a farm north of Gregory, SD, to William and Emma (Kriegy) Vielmette. Ginny was the oldest of four children.

Ginny graduated from Gregory High School in 1941. She spent most of her life in the Dallas/Gregory area.

In 1946 Ginny married Francis Jerred. They were parents to three daughters and one son. They lived on a farm near Gregory until May of 1962 when a tornado destroyed their entire farm. Then they moved to Dallas, SD. Ginny got a job as a nurse's aide at the Gregory Hospital and said it was the best job she ever had.

Ginny married Robert "Tiny" Leibel in April of 1974. In 1978 they moved to Custer, SD. In 1991 they bought a home to remodel in Dallas, SD. Ginny worked many part time jobs in the '90's into and into 2000's. Tiny passed away in 1999. Ginny continued to live in Dallas until April 2006 when she moved to an apartment in Gregory. She started having heart issues in 2013 which steadily began to worsen.

Ginny loved to go camping at Snake Creek and fishing on the Missouri River. She loved to play any card game or board game. Ginny also like to play games on her Kindle, read books, and watch TV.

Ginny was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory and a member of the Dallas American Legion Auxiliary. She was Chairman of the Board in Dallas, Dallas librarian, and cooked for the Dallas Senior Citizen Center. Ginny was president of the Rod Benders Fishing Club from 2000-2017.

Ginny passed away October 2, 2017 at Avera Gregory Hospital at the age of 93. Special in her medical care were Dr. Andrew Clark and Brenda Svatos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tiny, two brothers Kenneth and Gerald, infant daughter, and son Perry.

Ginny is survived by her three daughters: Joyce Shavlik (Larry) of Gregory, SD, Jerrene Hysell and friend Ron of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jolene Kulhavy of Gregory, SD; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, one sister Lois Vielmette of Palm Coast, FL, Aunt Clara Keith, Bolivar, MO, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services for Ginny Leibel, 93, were held Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory with Pastor Marcus Ring officiating. A visitation was held Friday evening at the church.

Music was provided by Leanne Sinclair, pianist. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Soloist Geoff Smith sang "On Eagles Wings" and "In the Garden."

Lori Watson and Jody Pavlis were in charge of registration.

Flower attendants were Paige Raschke, Jody Thorson, Joni Hampton, and Jenny Denny.

Casket Bearers were John W. Raschke, Jay Raschke, and Justin Raschke, Jerred Hysell, Mike Kulhavy, Amy Cook, Justin Cook, and Joely Shavlik.

Honorary Casket Bearers were the Rod Benders Fishing Club, Doctors and staff of Avera Gregory Healthcare Centers, staff of Rosebud Country Care Center, staff of Silver Threads Assisted Living, and staff of Avera Gregory Rehab Department.

Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Gregory, SD.
