Sheila Ann (Frink) Hembree was born April 12, 1942 the daughter of Larry and Mabel (Harrington) Frink. She had three brothers—Larry, Bruce and Michael. Sheila grew up mostly in Greene, NY but also spent time in Chicago. She attended school in New York and enjoyed being in the jazz band.

She married Bernard Nelsen in the 60's and to this union two daughters were born, Kathy and Patricia.

Sheila moved around a lot and did a variety of jobs. She remarried later in life to a wonderful man Bud Hembree and they lived in Missouri for 35 years. He passed away in 1993 in Hollister, MO.

After a few years by herself she moved to South Dakota in 2002 to be closer to her daughter Kathy and her grandchildren. She worked at Avera Healthcare Center in the kitchen until her retirement.

Sheila loved to go to garage sales and flea markets and collected Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia. She enjoyed watching movies and spending time with all her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved to draw, do arts and crafts and listen to music. Sheila loved nature and animals especially cats. Rescue Unlimited held a very special place in her heart and wanted donations sent to them in lieu of flowers. She loved trips out to the Black Hills. In her lifetime she moved around a lot but always said home is where her kids are.

Sheila had a hard life and experienced a lot of bad but also just as much good. Sheila was a survivor and experienced more in her life than most people could handle. She came out of it all with her head held high and love in her heart. She was never thought less of because of it. To her daughters, she was the perfect mom and they never lost faith in her. Sheila loved her family dearly and stayed close. It was always her priority to see her girls happy and grandkids spoiled. She was particularly close to her granddaughter Heather. They had a very special bond.

Sheila spoke her mind and told you what you needed to hear—no matter what. Sheila had a very quirky sense of humor and kept us all in stitches. She would not want us to be sad for her or cry. Sheila was a no nonsense kind of woman and would want us to go on in life and think of her with a smile in her heart.

Sheila lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 and died in her sleep in her daughter's home in Gregory where she wanted to be—close to her kids.

She was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Mabel Frink and her husband Bud Hembree.

She is survived by her two daughters Kathy (Dean) Kerner of Gregory, SD, and Patty (Russel) Davis of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Heather (Justin) Parkis, Dowain, Betty Ann, Melissa, and Greg; great grandchildren Billy, Sarah, Sam, Brock, Brady, Urijah, and Aurora; three brothers Larry Jr. (Judy) Frink of Florida, Bruce (Jean) Frink of Pennsylvania, and Michael (Jessica) Frink of New York, and many cousins, nieces, aunts, and uncles.
