Darlene Faye Vlasak was born on August 6, 1946 in Gregory, SD to Jerry Vlasak and Agnes (Svoboda) Vlasak. She grew up on the family farm north of Dallas, SD. She went to school at Eden Township Country School and graduated from Gregory High School in 1964. Dar attended college at Black Hills State and received her Bachelors in Education in 1968.

Dar's first teaching job was in Gregory where she taught Physical Education for two years. Then she relocated to Aberdeen where she taught at Central High School. Over the years she taught Physical Education and later Business and Computer Technology. Dar retired in 2001 and remained in Aberdeen.

Dar was active in square dancing and line dancing. She enjoyed playing cards, going on trips, and out for meals with her friends. She also loved spending time with her nieces and great nieces and nephews. She and her best friend Shirley traveled several summers and went to Mexico, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. After retirement Dar went on many trips to Europe, New York, Branson, and many other bus tours.

Darlene passed away on November 28, 2017 at the age of 71.

She is survived by her sister Shirley (Gene) Atteberry, Gregory, SD; nieces Tracy (Terry) Iversen and Melissa (Troy) Bitterman, and grand nieces and nephews Tiffany Iversen, Jordan Bitterman, Allyson Bitterman, and Carter Bitterman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
