Caroline Katherine (Hansen) Vedral was born the ninth of ten children to Katherine Mary (Guelig) and Hans Christian Hansen on January 28, 1929 in Dallas, SD. She attended grade school and high school in Dallas, completing the 11th Grade. Caroline dearly loved learning, reading and school in general. She was good at track, "even though I was short" and excelled in sprints. Her father died when she was only four years old and her mom raised the ten children alone during hard times.

Caroline met Melvin Vedral and they were married on June 14, 1945. Together they moved, in 1946, to the Vedral home place. They had two sons, James Lee Vedral (born February 26, 1947) and Dennis Melvin Vedral (born March 23, 1950). Caroline was a hard-working farm wife who loved working outdoors and journaled about her daily life. She was Danish and German, but well known for her kolaches, sweet sauerkraut and fried chicken. Lard being a staple in her kitchen. Caroline was an "avid conversationalist" who enjoyed working at the North Star Saloon for 27 years, crossword puzzles and many trips to the casino. Caroline loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, Nebraska Cornhusker Football, polka music, dancing, bowling and playing cards. She brightened a room when she entered and accepted all people she met without judgement.

Caroline passed away May 11, 2015 at the age of 86.

She is survived by her two sons James (Gwen) Vedral of Las Vegas, Nevada and Dennis (Sandra) Vedral of Gregory, SD; six grandchildren: Michele Johnson, Michael (Sara) Vedral, Tracie (Matt) Dvorak, Spencer Jon Vedral, Mark (Ashley) Vedral and Katie Vedral; step grandchildren- Courtney (Elliott) Gates and Kyle Routh; great-grandchildren: Kelsey and Shalae Johnson, Noah, Eli, Anna Caroline, Ezra and Elsa Vedral, Derek, Dustin and Danielle Dvorak and Vena Dakota Vedral; step great-grandchildren: Mata and Frances Gates; her sister Margaret (Maggie) Werner and two brother-in-laws Harlan Vedral and Dr. Donald Vedral.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and daughter-in-law Dianne (Gassen) Vedral; four brothers: John, Henry "Hank", Hubert "Hope" and Bernard "Boot" Hansen; four sisters: Louise Wehler, Evelyn Fiebelkorn-Fischer, Mary Fiebelkorn and Irene Hansen, and sister-in-law Norma Janas.
